Jurors reach partial verdict in Sean 'Diddy' Combs sex-trafficking trial

It comes after more than 12 hours of deliberations and weeks of testimony in Diddy’s trial

Jurors reached a partial verdict in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex-trafficking trial on four out of five counts – two sex trafficking charges and two for transportation to engage in prostitution.

They could not agree on count one, which was the racketeering conspiracy charge.

This charge alone carries the maximum sentence and could see Diddy spend the rest of his life in prison. The Goonies trailer

Diddy has continued to deny all charges.

A note passed to the judge stated: “We have not reached a verdict on count one because we have unpersuadable jurors on both sides.”

The defence and prosecution both asked the judge for the jury to continue deliberations and reach a verdict in a trial that has lasted more than a month, delivering some harrowing testimony.

In closing arguments, prosecutor Christy Slavik told jurors: “The defendant [Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs] used power, violence and fear to get what he wanted.”

“He thought that his fame, wealth and power put him above the law.”

Diddy’s defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo however claimed Diddy was facing a ‘fake trial’ and that prosecutors had ‘badly exaggerated’ evidence of Combs’ lifestyle.

He claimed to the court that Diddy and Cassie Ventura had a ‘loving, beautiful relationship’, though during the trial she gave testimony saying he forced her to take part in ‘freak offs’, while jurors were also shown a video of Combs assaulting her in a hotel.

The jury will continue deliberations tomorrow until a verdict can be reached, with deliberations potentially going on until Thursday when the court is meant to be closed.

The news means a conclusion is close in the high-profile trial, one which could put Diddy behind bars for life if he is found guilty on all counts.

Diddy is accused of hosting ‘freak-off’ parties in which he would supposedly engage in bizarre drug-fuelled sexual rituals.

He reportedly used his fame and power to intimidate others into engaging in sexual acts they did not want to do, prosecutors allege.

This allegedly included two ex-girlfriends and multiple employees of his, including one assistant who accused the music mogul of rape.

His defence team conceded that he ‘had a temper’ but maintained he had not forced anyone to engage in sexual acts against their will.

The trial saw several high profile faces appear to testify against Diddy, including rapper Kid Cudi.

He stated that, due to a brief relationship with Ventura, Diddy had firebombed his car.

Ventura claimed during testimony that, when he learned of this relationship, the music mogul had placed a wine opener between his fingers and ‘lunged’ at her.

50 Cent issues scathing warning to Diddy’s lawyer ahead of sex trafficking trial verdict

50 Cent has made it clear he didn’t like hanging out with Diddy, now he’s got it in for his lawyer

50 Cent has fired out a warning to Diddy’s lawyer as jurors will soon be asked to reach a verdict in the rapper’s trial.

It’s no secret that 50 Cent, real name Curtis James Jackson III, does not particularly like Diddy, real name Sean Combs.

He’s spoken out in the past about how he didn’t like to hang out with Diddy and said he really didn’t like the vibe Combs was putting out, while Jackson’s name has come up during Diddy’s trial.

Now that the final arguments have been made at Diddy’s trial it’s going to be up to the jury to consider the evidence and deliver their verdicts on the charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution.

It sounds like 50 Cent thinks he knows which way things will go, as he hit out at Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo over his closing arguments and claimed ‘he just got Diddy ass 20 years’.

Fiddy responded to Agnifilo comments in his closing argument that Comb’s ex – who testified under the pseudonym Jane – had the ‘worst lawyer in the world’ over the low child support she was entitled to.

“She didn’t have the worst lawyer, You are the worst lawyer. Remember the name Marc Agnifilo. He just got Diddy ass 20 years,” 50 Cent posted on his Instagram account with a picture of the lawyer.

He then followed it up with another post telling Agnifilo that his closing statement during the trial was terrible and people would think he was secretly a plant on Diddy’s legal team by 50 Cent.

Now that would be a major step up in rapper feuds, 50 Cent would have raised the bar for everyone.

He wrote: “Hey s**t head tell Puff I said keep paying the rent or JANE won’t be there for the appeal! Marc your closing statements were so bad people think your working for me.”

So it’s fair to say that 50 Cent thinks Diddy’s lawyer didn’t do a particularly good job of making the case for his client.

In his closing statements the lawyer had claimed Diddy was facing a ‘fake trial’ and that prosecutors had ‘badly exaggerated’ evidence of Combs’ lifestyle.

“Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?” Agnifilo said to the court.

“Did any witness get on that witness stand and say yes, I was part of a racketeering enterprise, I engaged in racketeering?”

He also argued that some witnesses, including a woman who testified under the name Jane, had been taken care of by Combs.

“I don’t know what Jane is doing today, but she’s doing it in a house he’s paying for,” the lawyer argued.

He tried to tell the court that Diddy and Cassie Ventura had a ‘loving, beautiful relationship’, though during the trial she gave testimony saying he forced her to take part in ‘freak offs’ and jurors were shown a video of Combs assaulting her in a hotel.

Major update in Diddy trial as key claims against him dropped

Closing arguments in the Diddy case are set to kick off on Thursday

Federal prosecutors are dropping a number of major claims against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs as the sex trafficking trial continues.

The 55-year-old is facing five federal charges which include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. Both sides have presented their cases, as the defence rested after just 20 minutes, relying largely on text messages and cross-examination.

Diddy himself did not testify and pleads not guilty to all five charges.

What claims against Diddy have been dropped and why?

Prosecutors are set to narrow their initial conspiracy charge, as the indictment accuses Combs of ‘creating a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in, and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice’.

However, in a letter to the court, the government say they are ‘no longer planning to proceed on these theories of liability so instructions are no longer necessary’.The following three theories are being dropped:

• Attempted kidnapping, linked to former employee Capricorn Clark and Cassie Ventura

• Attempted arson in relation to the alleged firebombing of Kid Cudi’s Porsche

• Aiding and abetting sex trafficking

“The Government understands the Court’s desire for streamlined instructions. With that in mind, the Government has suggested ways to streamline those instructions,” the letter read.

The claims were dropped as one of Diddy’s lawyers, Shawn Holley Shapiro, claimed that two of the three examples above were ‘insufficient’.

In one of the more shocking allegations aired during the ongoing Diddy saga, Capricorn Clark — a former employee of the music mogul — claimed she was taken to a rundown building by Diddy’s then-head of security and subjected to five days of back-to-back lie detector tests. Clark told the court that she was threatened with being dumped in the East River if she failed. However, Shapiro argued there was zero proof that Diddy even knew what was going on, let alone that he orchestrated a kidnapping.

Another explosive accusation came from rapper Kid Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, who alleged that his Porsche was firebombed back in 2012, shortly after Diddy reportedly found out he had dated Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s longtime girlfriend at the time. Shapiro denied any involvement on her client’s part, pointing out that Cudi didn’t witness the attack himself. She also highlighted that female DNA had been found on the bottle used in the Molotov cocktail.

What is Diddy still accused of?

The five federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution against Diddy remain, all of which he has pleaded not guilty to.

On Tuesday (24 June), Combs chose not to testify, stating that he had discussed this ‘thoroughly’ with his team and that is was ‘totally [his] decision’.

When asked how he was feeling by the judge, he also said: “I am doing great, thank you Your Honour. I wanted to tell you thank you, you are doing an excellent job.”

What have witnesses said in Diddy’s trial?

34 witnesses have testified against him, and this includes former Bad Boy Entertainment employees, ex-girlfriend Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, and a model and internet personality known to jurors only by the pseudonym ‘Jane’.

Last week, the jury were left terrified as videos of the drug-fuelled freak-offs were shown to them in court. Ventura, a key witness who dated Diddy on and off from 2005 to 2019, said in court that the freak-offs started ‘within the first year of our relationship‘.

“His sexual encounter that he called voyeurism where he would watch me be in intercourse with a third party, specifically with another man,” she said.

Cassie also spoke of the abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of Combs, testifying: “He would smash me in my head, knock me over, drag me, kick me, stomp me in the head if I was down.”

She also told the court that she would stay awake for days after Diddy allegedly provided her with a mix of ecstasy and cocaine, which would keep her up.

“I was high so I didn’t feel much,” she said. “Did this really happen to me? I didn’t know what was going to happen after that, if we were going to do it more frequently. I said yes to more, I didn’t want to make him upset or angry.”

Diddy trial thrown into chaos over what woman shouted in courtroom before being removed

What she said stunned the room

Warning: this article discusses sexual assault and domestic abuse which some readers may find distressing

The trial of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs officially entered its fourth week yesterday with those in the New York courtroom hearing from a wide range of testifying witnesses.

The music mogul, 55, could face life in prison if he is found guilty on all of his charges, which include sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.

A huge number of allegations have been made against the I’ll Be Missing You singer, with his former partner Cassie Ventura telling the court about the abuse she suffered while in a relationship with him, while also providing some harrowing details about the rapper’s infamous Freak-Off parties.

Ms Ventura shared how these parties, which could go on as long as four days, would see both her and Diddy hire male escorts to sleep with her, using copious amounts of baby oil and drugs.

Former assistants of Diddy and fellow musician Kid Cudi have also taken to the stand, with the defendant accused of plotting to kill the latter after breaking into his house.

Of course, the trial has attracted a huge amount of media attention and since it cannot be streamed or televised, those close to New York do have the option of sitting in on it.

And one woman decided to do just that yesterday, but found herself in hot water with the judge after interrupting proceedings and shouting ‘Diddy’, followed by a number of profanities.

“These motherf*****s are laughing at you,” the woman yelled at Combs.

She then said, ‘you’re laughing at a black man’s legacy’ and ‘pull your gun out ninja, I dare you’.

Unsurprisingly, judge Arun Subramanian then ordered for her to be removed from the courtroom, and proceedings were allowed to continue.

Combs has pleaded not guilty on all charges, and his defence team has argued that while he was ‘physical’ and a ‘drug user’, his love of baby oil is not a federal crime.

He was unmoved during the disruption, and proceedings were quickly allowed to get back underway, with Eddy Garcia, a former security worker at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, taking to the stand.

Mr Garcia could be key, as the InterContinental Hotel was where Ms Ventura previously alleged that Mr Combs had raped her, which led to her being paid a huge amount following a 2023 lawsuit.

Diddy’s lawyers had previously tried to remove the hotel surveillance footage from the trial, but it looks set to play a huge part in the jury’s eventual verdict.

The trial continues.

Diddy escort shares alleged shocking details of Cassie ‘freak off’ parties after being named in trial

Shawn Dearing has opened up after his escort alias was made public

One of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ former escorts has opened up with shocking claims about the infamous ‘freak off’ parties.

Shawn Dearing was named during the ongoing high-profile trial as the hip-hop mogul faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Diddy denies all charges.

The ex-escort was one of more than 10 men hired for the rapper’s parties, as alleged during Cassie Ventura’s testimony.

And now that this has been made public, Dearing (who is known professionally as Skyler) has decided to speak out about his experience, claiming to have been hired for ‘more than a dozen’ of these controversial sessions.

During her testimony, Ventura spoke about the drug-fuelled ‘freak offs’ Diddy allegedly orchestrated that could ‘last up to four days’.

Dearing says he wants to give ‘some credence’ to the singer’s story as he ‘never wanted to open my mouth’ about it.

But speaking of Ventura, he told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview: “You got me tearing up! I want what’s best for her, honestly, because she … she’s a badass lady, man. She’s awesome. So I want her respect first and foremost.”

Having allegedly been hired online for Comb’s ‘freak offs’, the former escort says he first met him and Ventura around late 2014 or early 2015.

“It was only me, him, and her,” he added. “He never touched me. We did everything under his direction.”

Dearing claimed that he didn’t witness any physical abuse, but that he did ‘notice forms’ of what he thought to be ‘psychological abuse’.

He recalled one ‘freak off’ when he claimed Ventura became like ‘a drone’ when Diddy ‘left the room for a moment’ as she often wouldn’t speak ‘because she knew she couldn’t’.

“She just sits there staring at the ground, and I ask her a question. She’s like, ‘No, no, no. Not until he gets back.’ So it’s like, ‘Oh, okay,’” he claimed.

And when the ‘freak off’s turned ‘dark’, Ventura would allegedly change.

“You could see that it was kind of like the spirit was leaving the body,” Dearing said.
