The Audience Went Silent When Carrie Underwood Stood Up For An Epic Performance Of ‘How Great Thou Art’
Some people with an extreme amount of talent and the ability to write their own songs will still cover the songs of others. In doing so, they may even make a name for themselves.
Carrie Underwood is one of those individuals and despite the fact that she is known for some of her own songs, she also covers at least one song and is well known for it. She recently went on American Idol for their faith-based special on Easter Sunday to sing it.
When Judge Carrie Underwood was on the stage, fans knew right away that something special was in the works. She is known for her faith-based music, including the well-known song, ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’. She also is known for the song ‘Something in the Water’, Where she talks about her baptism.
Along with singing the songs that she has released on her own, she has also covered a number of other songs over the years that were written by others. These include, ‘Softly and Tenderly’ and the hymn, ‘How Great Thou Art’. They were even part of a 2021 gospel album that she released.
In the 2025 Songs of Faith special hosted by American Idol, she had an opportunity to show her faith again. This is was in front of a large audience, as the special was showing performances from 20 contestants, the judges, and special guests.
When Carrie Underwood took the stage, she performed a song that she is becoming familiar with, ‘How Great Thou Art’. She really poured her heart into it and did her best to bring out all of the emotions within that classic hymn.
After singing, the crowd cheered and the host, Ryan Seacrest, simply said that he had no words after that.
